As an author who has influentially predicted and ridden the zeitgeist, it’s no surprise that Douglas Coupland’s new book is being launched in a “cross platform” savvy manner. Readers are invited to go online and customise their cover of the book before purchase. It’s a really neat idea, and indicative of the way online, digital printing and distribution advances are being harnessed imaginatively to “build the brand”. It’s also, arguably, a good advertisement for employing the skills of a professional typographer, as some of the results testify.
